We studied one year for dogs that are missing a leg and still able to walk and jump. The researchers put several reflective sensors in the body of the animal as it moves on a treadmill. Their movements are recorded and studied with infrared cameras to observe how the animal redistributes its weight and use your muscles to cope with a limp. One of the first conclusions of the experts who form the group is that for dogs is much more difficult to adjust to the loss of one front leg to rear. "The front legs hold up to 60% of body weight and coordinate the direction, while the rear used to propel the animal," said Martin Gross, Locomorph another researcher who presented the first results of the project in the Congress of the Society for Experimental Biology held until Saturday in Prague (Czech Republic).
experts have already built the first prototypes of this adaptable program funded with 2.7 billion euros by the European Union. Be two models every year until 2013, when they expect to have the final robot.
